Church brehs, is it odd that the ministry of music does absolutely nothing for me?

If you think this is fairy tales or bs, just move on now, this thread isn't for you, and that's all good, I'm not here to witness or convert. :manny:.

Growing up people would be very moved, crying...churches with kids doing special dance routines, choirs, etc

I'll be honest it just did nothing for me. I respect singing skill but I'm not in the pulpit like :ohlawd:. I'm the guy you see just standing or many head down praying but I'm not moved and definitely not catching the holy ghost from music.

Its 100x less impactful for modern Christian music (think non denominational or white churches), that literally makes me :unimpressed: and I just look at everyone else going :blessed: :hubie: to someone on an acoustic guitar talking about grace...

Praise break music like this touches the soul

But 90% doesn't and honestly it makes me not even fit in at churches if everyone is catching the holy ghost or feeling the anointing and I'm like :ehh: at best. Made me literally wonder at times if something was wrong...

i got way more out of a pastor just talking or preaching, or even bible study. But that be like 20% of church most of the time.

am I alone here?

I'm just saying this here cause I started to make a thread the other day and scrapped it.

Have any non- believers returned to church? I mean I believe in God, just religion but that's basically the same in most minds. I been considering it. The reasons are complex. I remember reading something about that being a thing with men years ago

I used to feel like this growing up. Then I went to some churches in Brooklyn with young people that changed my whole perspective. Like a warm up gets you all primed to hear the preached word. Music ministry has to fit you

That part is definitely true...because I've gone to churches that play "modern Christian music" (let's be real we all know I mean white people Christian music) and I literally never wanted to return lol

It's not the religion.

What you're feeling is the soul and strength of your people expressed in music and meditation.

I realized this after many years of giving credit to the Christianity for being the catalyst and not the precipice for Black transformation.

It's a shame that we cannot harness that power without going through the sensationalism and showboating.

I would enjoy to relax in praise and worship and to escape to have a private moment.

I would never go to join a club.

Some places have a real anointing on their music ministry. Some places don't. You probably attended a place that doesn't.

I know some very popular mega-churches that purposely play down their music ministry. I'm talking about the choir sings the blandest of songs in the blandest of ways. They do it on purpose because the minister wants the congregation to focus on the word.

My own church is characterized as "high church". There is no praise and worship. There is no music ministry. We have a choir that sings beautifully but their singing is not to us, but to God. We don't even clap after they finish with a song because it's in bad taste considering they are not singing for our enjoyment.

White churches and white music is so soulless. I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to that

You’re not alone.

I usually show up late to duck all that and get straight to business. When I do catch some of the praise and worship time, I find myself mimicking the drummer.
Bruh I actually drum lol so I be in there doing off beats and shyt with the claps having fun with it fukk being bored at church lol

I grew up in church, 3 to like 16 and it never moved me spiritually. But I went back when my parents died and just try and maybe pass along some community/fellowship experiences I had as a kid to the current kids. But you know some fukkery happened over some money my Dad donated for a specific purpose and just overall it still wasn't moving me so I stopped again. It's very time consuming the more involved you get. To some in there church is life so getting involved is a difficult trick if you got other shyt going on.
