your honest opinion? please be detailed
Saw this on Saturday.

Legitimately the hardest movie ever for me to give a score to.

I have to see it again before I rate it.

The first 45 minutes or so I had it at an 11/10. Then it dropped down to a 7/10.

It lies somewhere in between.

Going to see it again tomorrow, this time .. High as fukk.

Final score coming then.

But this movie is DIFFERENT.

will rate it tonight.

They really bait and switch you with a nonsensical art house movie after the 1st 45 minutes.

So many plot holes, needed another 45 minutes, and turned out to be 1 hour 55 minute advert for the sequel.

I enjoyed it, but I will not argue with anyone if they felt super disappointed by it. I think when part 2 comes out. It'll probably feel evident that they didn't need to be two separate films.

This film doesn't do enough to stand on its own as a new trilogy. I hope the sequel can make up for it in January

We just got back. I'm cross posting a little bit here but I enjoyed it for what it was and once we

Get deeper into it and Murphy comes in...

I think it'll fall into place. I did not know this information beforehand so she had to tell me afterwards lol I was about to get pissed in there.

I have enjoyed the worldbuilding. I think it's a definite step up from '28 Weeks Later' which I think is just "ok"

some clockwork orange fukery? cause that sh!t reminded me of the cat lady scene
Jimmy Savile was a famous English TV host that was exposed as a PDF file, with hundreds of abuse allegations against that the BBC allegedly covered up. I’m guessing that the writer interprets the scene as chilling as a Spike who’s only 12 years old comes across a group that clearly idolise him. Not sure if this would work in this timeline as Jimmy Savile was exposed as a PDF file in 2012 and in the 28 days/years later universe, the UK has gone to shyt for a long time by 2012 so Savile may not have been exposed. But it is a weird thing to put in the film considering how toxic his name is now.

Upon rewatching it a second time... 9/10.

Cinematography is the best and most unique i've seen in years

Lol what? '28 Weeks Later' was such a wild drop off from the first installment ....

First 10 minutes of that film is better than anything 28Y managed to achieve. The only issue obviously is the spoiled brats that got everyone killed.

Weeks is cheeks. Any tension that movie managed to muster up was undercut by the dumbest characters ever.

The kids were a major fault, without them, the repatriation program would have succeeded.

One of my favorite parts was Byrne’s character saying how important the lives of those children were over everybody else’s, but has a loaded weapon pointed right at them in a DARK subway tunnel like her nervous, trigger happy ass wasn’t gonna accidentally shoot them. :dead:

All this on top of being noisy as fukk. Easiest work ever for the infected. Dumb ass movie, lmao.

She was a scientist, not a rumble tumble type soldier like Doyle, so yeah, she was gonna freak out.

She was a medical officer, lol. Don’t need to be a rumble tumble soldier type to, at the very least, be in front of those kids protecting them and not shouting directions incoherently. The military as a whole in that one was moving mad sloppy tho.

I saw bad reviews before watching but still gave it a try

The 1st half of the movie is really strong. Good pacing, scary, it sucks you into the madness of that world.

The 2nd half however feels weak, the pacing is gone, the plot holes become easy to spot. The movie tries to be serious but then gives you a few absolutely cartoonish bad scenes. Basically it gets worse and worse.

Apocalypse Now has a structure where the first half of the movie is a total madness, probably one of the greatest movie experiences ever, then the 2nd half becomes much slower. But that movie is considered one of the greatest movies of all time obviously lol. This movie is nowhere near as good to afford this slow pacing towards the end. I felt bored and looking at the time when it's gonna end. And that ending....holly shyt it was bad, like really really bad. If I wanna watch a zombie comedy film I'd watch Shaun of the Dead.

They were complacent and it cost them. Scarlet wasn't designed for that type of work, but General Stone was far too late to react and too passive with keeping the potentially infected quarantined.

Part 3 dropped the ball in many ways and once Skip and his Mum went on a side quest, things went real left.

Then the Marines get murked out in two seconds, just seem they threw them in there for no reason. Real wasted potential IMHO...
