shyt where is the mickey 17 thread?

I would rather be late talembout that. Than this goof ass movie franchise. That real talk. Danny boyle gotta be racist.
Yet used zombie movies.
Like a formula. To co-opt.
Plus skirt past the race dynamic.

Ayo ...fukk this franchise and all zombie movies that play this remove black people game. When you would not have zombie movies. if not for black people.

fukk this movie.

For me, the original is a classic. This one just don't belong in the same universe.

Agree.

Racism is what hurt this franchise beyond simple repair.
Only way to fix this. Is give us 28 months later and naomi.

Other than that. fukk this franchise.

Weeks is enjoyable for the intro scene & the tension but yea the movie was basically a popcorn straight to dvd flick.

I really don’t understand the heavy criticism of this movie after finally watching it a second time. Even the ending at first had me wtf, but It’s just a bridge to the sequel film.

The way this movie uses pace, is deliberate as opposed to other films that just slow it down or throw in action just because. People aren’t watching this in good faith because of how it was marketed and they wanted a tone to replicate 28 Weeks Later.

I’m gonna vent real quick.

Too many times moviegoers judge a film based on what they wanted instead of taking the vision of what the director gave them. Just because we got tonal shifts doesn’t mean it’s bad or inconsistent, it just means certain scenes required more frantic and other scenes required less of it. Movies are art, they aren’t these 1:1 assembly line products that you need perfect lighting, perfect plot structure, impeccable and flawless graphics, some of yall are turning into elitists. Relax with the movie terminology that you picked up in a YouTube video 10 years ago and just enjoy a movie instead of looking for flaws because you disagree with a vision.

Boyle really directed a masterclass & took liberties with a mainstream blockbuster that doesn’t happen anymore. Very sublime.

It felt like a book in how each tone made sense to the story, great job.

8.5

It’s because of the trailer breh.

The first trailer for this movie is one of the best horrors trailer we have ever seen. And if you look back at the trailer, nearly all the shots are from the first half of the movie

Saw this tonight and after thinking about it. I was entertained, liked it but didn’t love it.

I thought the second half was suspiciously easy and lacked tension. lil too convenient but I did like the journey with the mom. Just needed a really great chase scene and some more action. Consistency with the mom’s ailments would’ve been great too. She seemed a lot worst in the bed, pain wise. I thought that was going to play more of a role in the wild.

Ending left me confused cuz I thought we had more runtime left when the folks showed up :pachaha: very abrupt.

same way I felt. Glad i didnt read the comments cuz i would have hated it. only thing I didn’t like was that corny ass ending.

Very similar to Longlegs - trailer was perfectly cut to make a pile of slop look like a deeply intriguing horror movie. Critics rate it much higher than the audience. Most people somehow don’t realize the universe of film criticism was totally gutted years ago, and the algorithms were long ago manipulated to count mid reviews as “fresh.” There are barely any full time salaried film critics in America at this point; if you catch a part time or freelance gig to review a movie, it’s in your best interest not to be too harsh, because you have no job security. That’s why you have this culture of boosterism in place of criticism. It has even trickled down to consumers, many of whom now instinctually speak and think like people paid to promote the film they just watched rather than paying customers with a right to demand better from the market. Super wild to watch it play out. We are never talking about the Godfather or any movie near that level, but cats will be enthusiastically be like “this one was a 12/10 breh”
:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

nikka, Raging Bull and City of God must be 34/10. To paraphrase Shawty Lo: it must be two 10s!

This isn’t even one of the best 100 horror movies I’ve seen. I’d take a kinda-sorta good joint like 30 Days of Night over this Sprinting Dead Dirk Diggler snooze fest with those pedestrian ass video game kill camera rotations.

Straight dumpster fodder.
