RT catfishing once again. This movie was mid. Had some good scenes here and there and some great acting but the directing choices were bizarre to say the least

it's interesting to me this is so divisive. did people forget the ending to the original film? i didn't like it back then. it switched to real cameras after the blurriness and became a completely different film with the army storyline.

i fukked with it, but that last scene felt like nia dacosta directed it. she makes bad movies so she might flop the franchise so bad with the 2nd one that we don't get the third one that's supposed to be directed by danny boyle.

Yea I remember not loving them switching to "Day of the Dead" in 28 Days later. Although lts aged better than a lot of zombie stuff that tried to follow it.

I just want to say there is a lot of pressure on Nia Dacosta.

This movie is divisive but the people who love it LOVE IT. So that in itself gives this film a chance to be viewed better down the road. However, Nia literally has to save the franchise to even get to a 3rd film.

I personally dont think Candyman was bad. I think the writing is what failed that movie. Obviously Marvel took the Marvels outta her hand (maybe with good reason). So now she's on her 3rd film thats essentially going to be out of her hands (to an extent) cause i bet its going to be noted like a motherfukka.

Again Boyle heads and others are going to fukk with this because of visual and visceral style in this movie. Even if the story beats dont always align. Nia is really at a point where she could lose both audiences and critics if she fukks up.

Having said all that. Good on Danny Boyle. Nia DaCosta's career likely was going to be dead after The Marvels and the fallout from that. He still gave her this great opportunity. Tough circumstances now, but still an opportunity. I hope she gets it right.
