Why does KI need legs again? The game's been competitvely relevant for a year now and lasted longer than Mortal Kombat 9. Its well recieved by the community inside and out of the main scene and the only real hurdle the game has is that it's on Xbone only.

Unlike Tekken and other 3D games, the scene actually shows up and gives a damn about it. Unlike Tag 2 where it dropped off the face of the Earth within months.

Unlike other western games that are mechanically sterile (Skullgirls) and other FGs where the metagame and willingness to follow the damn game is nex to none (Injustice.), KI seems to bedoing okay.

So why hate? :mjpls: our scene shows up, gets a decent tournout and the games at literally every major so far. You must have a vast knowledge of the scene to call it flabby.

Culture me. Educate me.

Numbers never lie. http://shoryuken.com/2014/07/01/evo...r-iv-leads-the-pack-with-nearly-2000-players/

KOFXIII is dead. I know because that's my main fighting game. (I live, breathe and sleep SNK fighters, can't fade me) KOF's last EVO was with KI's debut. KOFXIII had 319 entrants. KI had 338. In fact KI beat out four other fighting games.

  • Ultra Street Fighter IV – 1979
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – 1014
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee – 970
  • BlazBlue: Chronophantasma – 508
  • Killer Instinct – 338
  • King of Fighters XIII – 319
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us – 311
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 – 257
Granted that was KI's first year and it was being fueled by first year support. What makes or breaks a fighting game's long term support is with the cooperation of both the developer and the player base. SNK failed with not patching KOFXIII into it's arcade released. Injustice failed because of the consistent, game changing patches that made people throw away characters. Tag 2, while being a very good game...just has no support. 3D fighting games die very quickly, this is a fact.

ChronoPhantasma Extend has yet to release and let me tell you--in Japan both Xrd and ChronoPhantasma bombed. Hard. Media-Create sales have showne this. Arc System Works is going to bury CPX because of it's obtuse method of updating their games. No one wants to spend another $60 on a full retail update/balance patch.

But yeah KI is a struggling scene, and game's like CP outperform i--...oh. ChronoPhantasma isn't at EVO, being replaced by Xrd (first year hype) and Ultimax (lol Persona brings numbers) http://shoryuken.com/2015/01/20/evo-2015-lineup-announcement-show-now-streaming-

Oddly enough KI is back though. Weird. :sas1: King sun, you play fighting games right? i thought the scene was dying?:sas2:

OOH! And as an added bonus, here's those BlazBlue:CP 'numbers'

11./03. [PS3] BlazBlue: Chronophantasma # <FTG> (Arc System Works) {2013.10.24} (¥7.140) - 14.307 / 86.771 (-80%)

86K
within the first two weeks of it's release, and dropping off the charts dramatically is /okay/ for a fighting game. It's nothing special. Guilty Gear Xrd IIRC did worse.

16./00. [PS4] Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign # <FTG> (Arc System Works) {2014.12.04} (¥7.538) - 12.638 / NEW

12K in it's FIRST WEEK. That's :flabbynsick: status right there. andn yes, UNIEL did worse than Guilty Gear.

Outside of Persona, no one really cares about anime.
