Just got home, I don't know about downtown Manhattan. But their are police checkpoints at the bridges, they checking EVERYONE going into Manhattan.

Heath care workers in a protest in the middle of a pandemic

Police shot and killed an gunman in a chaotic series of events at a Brooklyn housing complex Tuesday night, cops said.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired at Rochester Ave and Dean St. in Crown Heights saw a wounded man just after 9:15 p.m., and a gunman hiding behind the fence near the Kingsborough Houses, an NYPD spokesman said.

It’s not clear if the man opened fire at cops, but several officers fired several shots, killing the man, the spokesman said.

Emergency radio transmissions conveyed a scene of panic and chaos, with reports of shots fired, and officers ordered to find cover. At one point, officers on the scene were told to withdraw from the housing development courtyard.

FDNY officials reported five people, three civilians and two police officers, taken to area hospitals.

Police later found an illegal gun at the scene.

Investigators were still sorting through what happened, and the NYPD spokesman described the account of the shooting as preliminary.
