Eh, not for the sake of equating the struggles because that would be intellectually dishonest. However, there are comparisons and contrasts to be made. A comparison can be made with the broader idea that there was discrimination against a disenfranchised group of people at a point in history, and that the solution was to grant civil rights to said group.
However, different threads of history lead the respective groups' discrimination. Problem is, posts like that by OP are exactly what powerful people like and want out of these groups because we then get into useless pissing matches over whose people had it worse while they sit back and watch us get into meaningless fights and arguments.
The broad problem and broad solution are pretty similar if not the same. HOWEVER, to act like a certain people's rights are more or less important than another's is counterproductive and really dumb. Are there different histories? Oh yeah. Doesn't mean that we all of a sudden need to turn against each other for it.

In modern American politics, there is seriously nothing stupider to me than any racial/ethnic minority that harbors homophobia today. Seriously.
There was a long and serious history that kept blacks and other racial/ethnic groups from marrying who they wanted because of laws that demanded "purity of the races" or some other bullshyt. Instead of finding an instant ally, however, for some reason people have decided to assert their masculinity be hating people that they don't know and inflicting the same kind of discrimination that was perpetuated against their ancestors for centuries.
