The game really DOES improve if you lower the game speed a notch or two.

This game is unplayable.
I don't see how nikkas are still playing this game.
The AI has been broke for years and they have not fixed it.
Civ 5 is still better than this game for that reason.
I bushed this game after a couple of months back in 2016.
I was waiting for them to fix the AI but they never did.
I've never played Civ before this so I have no baseline unfortunately. All I know is these barbarians be pressing

Barbarians conflict is normal in all Civ games but it is put on overdrive in Civ 6.
All Civ games have its AI issues but Civ 6 AI issues make it unplayable IMO.

Build scouts early and let them automate to uncover the map. When you find a barbarian camp, kill it.
Unless you're absolutely sure there are no barbarians around, don't send settlers too far without an escort.
Barbarians can't destroy your capital, but they CAN destroy any other remote cities. So at the very least make sure you have a slinger fortified in your other cities until you reach the point when you can start building city walls (which give your cities their own ranged attack).
