I made a Windows defender exception for my steam folder and now it works fine
Ran about 275 turns with the Kongo just to get a feel for the flow of the game. I will play all the way through and then go back and play with a more set strategy.

I forgot how annoying barbarians are. Gotta keep a standing army just to deal with them as well as kicking everyones ass

Also how is the gameplay compared to Civ V and IV? I didn't like Civ V that much. I loved Civ IV. Especially with the Beyond the Sword expansion.
