Great documentary, Frontline rarely disappoints. The self hate in Clarence is wild. Racism from the whites and his own kinfolk really did a number on him.

Besides all of that…it sucks how he grew up..specially his family treating him that way…is one thing when people on the street do it to you but your own family it’s a different type of wound.

What did his family do to him?
His father left the family when he was very young, his mother and brothers were living in dirt poor conditions so she sent them to their grandfather. Grandfather had a nice home and income but he was abusive and would lock them up in a closet if they did anything wrong. Grandfather kicked him out of the house when he dropped out of the seminary school due to racism.
