MM is in my top 5 personal favorites. LET theory saw the emergence of Phife and Check The Rhime is my all time favorite Tribe song. But MM is a masterpiece to me. It's hip hop perfection. I can't think of many albums that are perfect to party to, relax to, workout to, and play on a road trip. It's crazy that I could do all four of those things and play that album straight thru. The beats were flawless and Tip and Phife's chemistry were the best of any two MCs to hit a studio together

MM is the type of hip-hop album you can put in a conversation of all-time MUSIC albums. It really is the pinnacle of the genre in quality. Even Low End could potentially be up there, I mean it's not like MM is the consensus best Tribe album, it's really 50/50 at most 60/40 in MM's favour. Those two albums are what you'd give a '10' score to.

Everything from the album cover to the MM tour guide was genius. And it's prolly the most fun experience one could have listening to hip hop

No doubt I think Illmatic is better but I think MM stretches hip hops limits more and they were at a point they could talk about more than Nas could

I don't even think you can say it's better tbh, I've never bought into the idea that Illmatic has to be THE GOAT.

Illmatic displays more impressive lyricism, better rhyming and what have you.

I don't think it is conceptually better, certainly not as cohesive, and also the production is arguably inferior. MM is one of the best produced, if not THE best produced, of all-time.

They're both in that elite category, along with Cuban Linx, The Infamous and a few other albums of similar calibre.

I personally think OBFCL is the goat but I feel what your saying about Illmatic in comparison to MM
