I'm going to set this off real quick and tell everybody here not to play with Run-D.M.C.'s name.

They're the reason I got into hip hop in the first place. A lot of their hits have aged well, their charisma and energy is undeniable, and without them, the impact of rap music in the 1980s would have been nowhere near as big. Keep in mind, they released their first album at a time when rappers were still releasing singles for smaller audiences. Next thing you know, they're getting airplay on MTV and performing at Live Aid.

With that being said, I voted for their debut and Raising Hell. King of Rock has classic songs but it's not very cohesive as an album, and Tougher Than Leather is actually my favorite album from them but it had very little impact or influence and ended up getting lost in the shuffle amongst a lot of other projects in 1988. That deal with Profile Records really screwed them up.

Their last three albums aren't really memorable at all, but Down with the King is definitely the best of the three. Bottom line, no one can deny their run from 1983-1988.

These Guys couldnt rap for jack.

" Hey, I'm in the party with my Kangol HAT!//
"Dont like those guys man they are RATS!//

These simpletons had no bars and their impact in Hop Hop is severely overrated.

"In some cases the only thing that father and son
Have in common, is their love for Run
Been the illest since day one, too advanced to ever be caught
Who's more legendary than me? That's what I thought
And if somebody want to test mine, yo watch this:
Peter Piper picked pepper:
See, I knew you knew the next line, and I bet you said it
Just spend a minute, I'm still the king of the world
So don't forget it:"

BTW for all of you young'uns, you can't listen to any of Run DMC's albums before 90 on anything BUT vinyl. Don't go try downloading.

votes yes for the 1st 3.

"king of rock" is pushing it, but I figure it should at least be a coli classic since its a helluva lot better than some of the stuff that got voted in as classics in other threads.

coliclassics reputation faltered as soon as Common, G Rap, Eminem and Kanye were given a grand total of 0 classics

Voted first and third. Not much of a fan of those albums but they are undeniable.
