'97-'03 Pedro is the best I've ever seen. Did most of the in the AL East at the height of the steroid era too.

I'm the biggest Pedro fan you'll find. Inning for inning Pedro was the most dominant pitcher in baseball history. Still hurts my soul the Dodgers gave up on him BUT.....Kershaw is on an unprecedented trajectory of greatness.

- About to lead the majors in ERA for the 4th straight year. NEVER been done before.
- Lowest ERA in the live ball era (since 1920) among starters with 1000+ innings.
- 2nd in ERA+ among starters to Pedro Martinez. Pedro (and most other pitchers) had their best years starting at 27. Kershaw is only 26. The kid keeps getting better.
- 2nd in hits per 9 innings to Nolan Ryan.

Coming into this season, Kershaw had 5 straight years of 30+ starts and a sub 3.00 ERA. Pedro had 4 such seasons for his whole career.

Again, inning for inning I believe Pedro to be the most dominant pitcher in baseball history but Clayton Kershaw is already on his heels and hasn't even hit his prime yet.

He's been great, but he's doing it in the NL while Pedro did most of his damage in the AL East during the steroid era. HUGE difference.

Kershaw might wind up with the better career, but I'll still take Pedro in his prime over Kershaw.

I say better career because Pedro's body broke down and failed him. I think Randy Johnson had a better career than Pedro, but I'd take prime Pedro over Unit. Career is about longevity mixed with results.

Breh, to me, Pedro > everybody. You're preaching to the choir. Rogers Clemens had a better CAREER than Pedro, but I'm not taking him over a prime Pedro.

Dodgers traded Pedro for Delino Deshields. I still remember being pissed as a little kid.
