You really want to defend Byron Scott of all people? :dwillhuh:
Yeah, I do.

He was bought in to watch over the Kobe Farewell/tank seasons. Soon as Kobe was gone, Luke Walton was hired, then they started spending in FA, and they were gonna be Baby Golden State. I don't forget shyt like that.

But you DO forget Byron Scott not even telling guys why they were getting benched? :mjlol: Byron Scott says he hasn’t talked to D’Angelo Russell or Julius Randle about demotions

He wasn't even on speaking terms with management or the owners before he got fired. And then when Mitch canned him, he went on TV saying "If I knew I was on the hot seat - I would've played Lou and Bass more" not even understanding how he was playing himself on live TV. Scott was a clown going all the way back to New Orleans with his #manup bullshyt

some of these dudes really don't need the revisionist history

pour one out for Silas. shyt, remember how Gentry was getting done dirty in Phoenix and NOLA before he got an actual team. Scott was terrible in LA and he didn't even try and hide it

NO told Monty Williams his job was safe if they made the playoffs, they did and he was still fired.

And for the cats that keep bringing up coaches sticking up for Blatt

Pelicans fire coach Williams after 5 seasons

So was Golden State's Steve Kerr.

"You've got to be kidding me," Kerr said when told about Williams' firing.

"You never know what's going on being the scenes, but I know from facing New Orleans in the first round, I thought Monty was terrific," Kerr added. "He had his team well prepared."

Reporter: What do you think needs to be done to get more out of the offense Byron?

Byron: We just need to man up. Simple as that. Kobe is a man. The young fellas need to be men too.

Reporter: You guys are currently one of the worst defenses in the league. How do you guys get better moving forward?

Byron: We just got to be men. Period. The young boys don't get it yet and they dont understand how to play like men. You see Kobe? He knows how to play like man. MWP? Lou? Bass? They're vets, they know how to be men out there. But the young boys are just that - boys. When they man up we'll play better defense

Like...I get it. There's a disproportionately low amount of black coaches in pro sports/NCAA, so naturally it sucks to see one of the few lose their spot, but everybody ain't a victim. There are some who genuinely did get hoed (See Monty Williams; Lionel Holllins & Fiz in Memphis), but some of them were just trash and deserved to be fired.

We didn't see this coming.

LeBron was the coach, he wanted Blatt out. Blatt was out.
Ty Lue got promoted because LeBron wanted Ty Lue promoted, we all know this.

They go to the NBA Finals and LeBron barely bothers to shake Gilbert's hand, as if he's not paying him insane amounts of money to play basketball there and as if he's not let go of Blatt because of him and as if he didn't promote Ty Lue because of him. 0 respect for Gilbert (understandably after the letter, but even LeBron has to be smarter than that if he cares about what happens after he leaves which was inevitable..)

LeBron goes to LA (LWO in this bish).

What do you think Gilbert's thinking? "All the remnants of the LeBron era should stay, yes all those players he wanted here should play a lot and definitely Ty Lue who basically coached however LeBron said.. yes he should stay Head Coach"?

Come on. I'm not saying Lue CAN'T coach, I'm saying two things:

1. I can guide LeBron to the NBA Finals as Head Coach "Say what Bron? OK Bron." That's about it
2. Have you ever seen Ty Lue after they lost a Finals or a key game in a press conference? Besides a few shrugs and "We gotta do better" and "We gotta figure it out" he has no real answer to WHAT they need to do better or HOW they will turn things around. Nice guy, but Brian Shaw is not a Head Coach and Ty Lue is..? Come on..

Whether he shook Cac Gilbert’s hand or not. This was inevitable. Gilbert and James co-existed so that James could cement his legacy by being the “one” who ended Cleveland’s championship drought and Gilbert got to go along for the ride and have the team he owned have that glory. And he wasn’t paying Lebron an “insane amount” of money. Lebron was smart enough to forgoe financial legitimacy for TRUE control (sign one year deals and in turn keep your leverage) he also got his friends and people close to him opportunities they might not have gotten otherwise. JR got paid. Thompson got paid. Lue got promoted (fukk Blatt).

Lebron played that situation smarter than ANY other Professional ball player in recent history (this is fact) Lue wasn’t given a “fair” shot but the NBA isn’t about establishing “fair” circumstances. You take what you can WHEN you can. Lue now has a championship pedigree and 4 finals appearances to his resume as head coach. He’ll get another chance with another team eventually.
