Really, and I hate to say it, games should cost $80. They've remained $60 for so long, despite inflation. Of course they are losing money. Only a few major companies can pull off 100+ mill games.

Of course game makers are secretive but for a big triple a game with cinematic story line and considerable multiplayer 100 million seems like the going rate unless you are in a place with cheaper cost of living like Poland (Witcher 3 cost in the 50 million range) or horizon which was also in the 50 million range

and yet here we are 5 years later where AAA games and it's devs are still doing fine
But like i said before the rich at the top are still making a ton of money and the indies at the bottom are but there's not much in betweenThe new, “restated” reporting from NPD shows that spending on game software has actually been increasing steadily since 2010, whereas the previously reported data indicated somewhat of a spending plateau.
The AAA model cant be sustained for much longer. All this 4k graphics this, high end that, is killing developers. These games have higher budgets than most movies now.
