They need to go to Seattle. If Ballmer throws his weight around, he should be able to get that downtown stadium the other developers wanted to get, but had no team for. It'd be right by Safeco and CenturyLink. Could probably get a hockey team in there too.

The only way he'd get that arena is if he paid for everything himself because the city would not help him (and if he were willing to fit the bill, he might as well stay in LA and profit).

If he really wanted to move the team out of LA, he would have made those arrangements upon buying the team.

Seattle fans desperately want a team. If he moved the Clippers there, sellouts would follow them and they could probably get a hockey team in the arena as well. Seattle is quickly getting as expensive as any area on the west coast besides the Bay.

:ohhh: Move the team to Seattle. Rename the team the Sonics. Kinda like how :mjpls: did with the Bobcats and watch Seattle embrace the team like :blessed:

Bobcats was automatic :scust: but Hornets is :blessed:

It'll work :manny:

I don't think he's worried about that.

Remember, even in a situation like this they're at Staples for another 8 years. It cost him 2 billy to buy it. It would cost him that much and more to relocate it.

2032 is as early as it will be for the Sonics to be reborn without expansion

I am happy and sad about this, they are losers who are finally moving out of Staples but they do have cheap tickets and I go to some of their games to check out other teams. I don't want to drive to San Diego.
Could just be a power move to get a more favorable lease agreement. They sell put every game so its not like they're hurting.

It's a weak atmosphere. The other arenas I've been to have a better view, better food and drink options, better access getting in and out, etc. Staples is probably better for concerts because it kills noise. The development of LA live has saved it a little, it was complete trash when it was by itself and had nothing around it.

And its not a size thing because United Center is a lot bigger and doesn't have any of those problems.

The only way they're approving an arena in Seattle is if they're paying for it out of their own pocket. It doesn't matter how much the fans want a team.
