2nd listen (not entirely accurate as I keep playing the first 6 songs over and over again)

I fukking love this album. I still think Pusha T is the perfect rapper, yet somehow Malice got him on this album.

I challenge anyone to not record a personal best in the gym when that Kendrick verse plays. Kendrick can be hit and miss on features, but he nailed it 10/ten.

Tyler sounded like he’s been waiting all his life to do a Clipse feature.

Nas is still the weakest verse (and feature) of the entire album.

S/o to Clipse man. I’m so happy they gave me an album I can play from top to bottom for weeks if not months.

Yo we also need So Be It pt 2 on DSPs. I heard that once and it’s perfect.

Pharrell ain’t shyt without Chad Hugo

Album shoulda been 10 tracks. Gets repetitive. I’m a Nas Stan and his verse was the worse on the album. Didn’t belong at all
After listening to lord willing and till the casket again, the production on here is kinda boring. Either the clipse wanted to play it safe or pharrell dont have any bounce without chad. Part of their appeal was lyrical rap on unique beats

Now that I’m listening to everything he lowkey violated Jim throughout the entire album with some Jigga type arrogance and dismissiveness

“You run from the spirit of repossession
Too much enamel covers ya necklace :sas2:

“…And those lab diamonds under inspection…:mjpls:

“20 Year Thousandaires :mjtf:

“You Zeus Network nikkas, you read me loud and clear :umad:
Get these $5500 a hosting nikkas outta here :camby:

“…I hope you got your squeegie…:hhh:

“sand color Rolls like the Saudis here, only Audi here is, is my au pair”

He destroyed him . Whole verse is :scusthov:

Wouldn’t say that the production on here is boring but I agree that it has more mainstream appeal than the production on the previous albums which I guess is why this album seems to be resonating in a way that the previous albums didn’t.

Think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the bolded, although I would say it appealed more to hardcore Clipse fans as opposed to a wider audience. That’s the reason I love the first two albums - the production on them sounds nothing like any other albums that were out at the time but Pusha and Malice can clearly rap their ass off.

While this album isn’t as good as those in my opinion, it’s still the best project they’ve dropped since HHNF - Pusha solo albums included. I honestly don’t like any one else other than Pharrell/Neptunes producing for Clipse and after this album, I realised it’s because Pharrell just knows how to produce for them because he usually makes the beats as sparse but sonically big as possible. It works because both Pusha and Malice have nasally delivery so it cuts through on the tracks allowing the lyrics to shine. It’s also why I’m not too much of a fan of Pusha’s solos - he’s rapping for sure but the production is pretty much in line with the ‘traditional’ sonics of rap so you’ve lost your USP as to what makes YOUR tracks special. This is why for me for example, all the best moments on Almost Dry are the Pharrell tracks.
