The credits on the all the songs don’t have Chad Hugo’s name listed. Chad never made a ruckus about it. Maybe because he didn’t actually work on it.

So, did anyone mention that Pharrell co-produced a top 3 Billboard Hot 100 hit for The Weeknd? Without Chad’s involvement. Stop playing with Skateboard P. The record is called Timeless and it went number 1 on a couple of charts.

Pharrell been producing by himself since forever. He never needed Chad to produce an album so its not out of the realm of possibility

It kills me when people say Chad was the brains behind them. It’s a shame how we discredit our own. I peep a long time ago that it’s was mostly Pharrell after this old video of them in the studio. Chad was more of the sound designer and when you hear the weird Neptunes sounds, that was him. But the music which was based off of old funk and soul stuff was Pharrell.

They each done their own thing......Pharrell has produced on his own and has made a lot of dope stuff. Chad has made lot of great stuff especially with Kenna (New Sacred Cow & Make Sure They See My Face are fantastic albums)

Great producers on their own, arguably legendary together.

Yeah Pharell's style solo is a little more sparse and synth driven, that makes sense

Let me take my cape off for a second....I don't understand why this is an ongoing discussion or debate. The past is the past, whatever happened happened. In today's world, Chad is out and Pharrell is solo producing the new Clipse album that drops in 2 weeks. So far both singles and the snippets from other songs that leaked have been overwhelmingly well received. If this whole album is heat then we should just enjoy it and give P his flowers. But this doesn't diminish the past or what Chad has contributed in the past (whatever that was).

Anybody else remember when the only thing that mattered in new music was whether it was good or not?

Straight up mental illness, P has a long production discography outside of The Neptunes, I don't even know anything that nikka Chad has done outside of The Neptunes

Yes. It was evident that Chad had nothing to do with that album. It was all stripped down and skeletal production wise. Compared to Lord Willin', which sounded more full if that makes sense. However, I thought "Chinese New Year" was produced by both because it sounded like an Exclusive Audio Footage era Neptunes production.

This is where I'm at with this Chad/Pharrell argument: people overrate BOTH of them separately. Their best worm is as a duo as The Neptunes. On theit own neither of them scratch a Top 10 GOAT producers list. I find solo Pharrell more overrated than Chad as people tend to list him solo as if he he didn't come in the game with Chad as 1/2 of The Neptunes. Chad is not the brains behind The Neptunes. That sound does not work as well without BOTH. The Neptunes are easily Top 10. Pharrell or Chad solo is not.

You take away the Neptunes' work, they are just average producer
