Mike Quackenbush Discontinuing Chikara After Allegations Of Abuse, Resigns From Wrestle Factory

Chikara founder Mike Quackenbush has confirmed the dissolution of the promotion in the wake of allegations of abuse.


On Wednesday night, Quackenbush issued a statement which read:

“I have been made aware of recent allegations about myself, and people in my employ.

I take all allegations seriously – whether they are about me, or members of my team.

Addressing these with openness and transparency is of the utmost importance to me. So these matters can be given the proper time and attention, I am discontinuing CHIKARA and resigning as head trainer at the Wrestle Factory.

I’ll make a full statement on these matters in the near future.”

As we reported, Chikara came under fire from multiple women who alleged that Quackenbush and others were abusive toward female trainees and staff members. In the wake of the allegations, many Chikara wrestlers resigned.

Quackenbush founded Chikara in 2002.


Dude not only resigned but took his company with him out the door.

As a wrestler I was a big fan of his whole "last boss" persona, but the whole "family friendly" shyt basically as transparent as his promos. This is the same man that closed Chikara down after cheating on his wife who was a big part of the promotion's success in the midst of their popularity. If dude would had just kept his dikk in his pants, Chikara would had been the closest thing to mainstream status as TNA was...but this business man

I never fully followed Chikara...it seemed like a fun wrestling alternative and I’d hear about it occasionally, but never sought it out. Sucks it had to end in this fashion.

None of this is funny (...OK, Quack booking a shutdown because he's a piece of shyt only to have to actually shutdown because, well, he's a piece of shyt is kinda humorous...), but this did get a chuckle out of me.

In all seriousness, not all abusers are blatant creeps. Some of them look very normal and have normal relationships outside of their abuse (thinking of Darren Sharper or Matt Lauer here). I knew murderers that I would have never suspected even had a taste for violence until I became aware of their actions. shyt happens like that sometimes, you can't dwell on it too much.

With all that said, I never truly gave a damn for CHIKARA even when they were good, so I don't really give a damn for their enforced folding. All that carny nonsense finally caught up with him.
