If I was past my prime as an artist I’d probably stop doing festivals all together. Doesn’t matter how good your music is if the crowd doesn’t know who you are.
Getting shyt thrown at you while on stage is one of the most infuriating things that can happen to you. Happened to me once at a show and I blacked out (i was off that warm tequila). Tried to find who was in the crowd and ended up gettin dragged back stage by security and promoters and went back to my hotel to blow this groupie’s back out all night.
Lookin back on it, stopping the show at all is unprofessional. U just need security to handle it and thug it out.

Crazy cause when I worked concert security for 5 years, various show, various legitimate artists of rap and rock, when they sold water and beers they took the cap off before handing them to patrons because they didn't want people throwing full bottles at artists. This was 05 to 10
