To be fair this is the 2nd time the Texans have drafted a pass rushing DE #1 overall in the draft. Mario Williams never lived up to that potential. He had a few 10+ sack seasons but he was not JJ Watt dominant. Clowney imo from what I seen when he was healthy in the nfl was not JJ Watt dominant. Now he's hurt and the question has to be asked will he every be able to reach his potential.
Just saying all this DE is #1 overall pick worthy is BS to me. I feel like you take the best player if he's a QB it's a no brainer but all this only QB, LT or DE can go number needs to be thrown out window. We've seen too many bust from those position who were taken #1 overall to say their the only position worth the #1 overall pick.
I wanted the Texans to draft Bridgewater or Manziel. But when I saw the package for Mack who went to the Raiders I thought he was disruptive and I thought he could make an impact. I also liked him more than Clowney who already had red flags coming out of South Carolina.

Mack is a 3-4 OLB. His skills meshed perfectly with the Texans scheme. Clowney was the 4-3 DE that they were trying to convert to a 3-4 OLB. Its the reason alot of people were saying before the draft that the Texans should draft Mack.Mack is already playing at a pro bowl level while Clowney just had microfracture surgery and might never be the same.
