The
Houston Texans will have to make due without their No. 1 overall pick for the foreseeable future.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport
reported Sunday that linebacker
Jadeveon Clowney will undergo surgery on Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, according to a source who has spoken to the rookie. Clowney is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Clowney suffered the injury during Houston's
17-6 win over the
Washington Redskins on Sunday. He limped to the locker room late in the second quarter and did not return. He had one tackle for a loss before his exit.
NFL Media's Albert Breer reported
earlier on Sunday that Clowney also sprained his MCL, according to two sources.
Clowney has had injury issues since being taken with the first pick in the 2014
NFL Draft. The former South Carolina star missed extended time this summer after undergoing sports hernia surgery.
A big Sunday for the
Texans' franchise has turned bittersweet.
