Yup, gonna get ugly. Since it seemed to come out of nowhere, the purists will say he's faking it and that this validates everything they're saying about Punk and pro wrestlers who think they can really fight.

If and when he finally does debut though ... the heel heat should be just that much hotter.

I really don't get why the idea of him makes purists so mad. If he can't fight and shows up to get mauled then enjoy the spectacle the way they used to enjoy watching Bob Sapp (insert random giant) get beat up in pride

He has no choice but to get a few fights in in UFC if he's ever going to do anything else in life. He's too young to retire. Can't imagine him being welcomed back to world of wrestling right now with all that's happened concerning him in the past 2 years.

Exactly, if they are so sure he can't fight, they should be excited about the prospect of sitting back and watching him get beat up by a "real" fighter.
But they just can't get past the "tarnishing our sport" thing.

I watch more MMA than wrestling these days but its purist fanbase is definitely hard to take sometimes.
