Maybe Bay nikkas can answer this for me... how come rips/rus were able to infiltrate Sac and not Oakland/Frisco etc?
"Infiltrate" is not the right word and I'm glad you asked this so I can clear this up real quick...
The family that moved to Correla Gardens was from Nutty Blocc Compton, and brought their Crip identity with them, and became Garden Blocc. That was the first Crip gang in Sacramento, this is in '79...
The first Blood gang in Sacramento was started by a relocated Pomona 456 dude, this was in '80. For the most part all the other gangs in Sacramento were sanctioned by someone from these two sets or influenced by them (my dad and uncles started DPH Bloods in '85 but were influenced by and little homies to the OG OPB nikkas)...
So it was not like some LA nikkas ran thru Sac on some get down or lay down shyt. There was a history back in the day of LA nikkas coming thru Sac and beefing with Sac gangs, but these Sac hoods were already there (like around '89-90 a gang of Broadway nikkas from LA were getting money in the North Area but they weren't on some "be Crips or die" shyt, and there was a war with them and the Northside Blood gangs at that time)...
The one poster was right, Sac and LA always had stronger ties until about the late 90s/early 00s when a mass relocation of East Bay families came to Sac and shifted the culture. There's still plenty of LA cats and/or people with LA ties in Sac---->like myself, born in the late 80s but I went to elementary school in LA, and while I have family in The Bay, I've always been closer with my LA family, and my mom who is basically first generation OPB used to live in the Avalons in LA when she was dating an LA dude in the 90s (I didn't live with them)....I've known plenty of LA cats from Hunnas to BPS to Long Beach cats living in Sac, so the LA ties are still there for alota folks but in the last 20 years the Bay connection is stronger for most people...
LA dudes initiated the original B and C hoods in Sac but besides that Sac dudes are what established the Blood and Crip legacy in Sacramento. It wasn't an "infiltration"...
There are Bloods and Crips in The Bay, just specifically in the inner Bay (SF/Oakland), it never took root there, though there are plenty of old heads who will tell you both cities had stretches of B/C activity in the way back. It just never stuck. Sac embraced it...
