it's iffy, it does feel odd when non-black users have a majority of their reaction gifs be of black people and the content isn't even of actors/actresses from tv, movies or music videos.

I think reactions gifs used by black users featuring black people are typically a lot more flattering.
We create all the trends, slang words, have the most intense reactions and facial expressions. We have a disproportionate amount of memes and gifs, and we have some of the most popular. It would be more work to not use black gifs.

maybe but I'm saying that I've observed more non-black users make and use gifs or memes of black folks from non-professional media and it's largely unflattering or a downright negative depiction.

Above the fray.
Said since I joined that am not a fan of smilies. Reminds me of minstrel imagery where they'd use a cutout face as a caricature. It is what it is.

some of these smilies do reek of mistreal imagery but not because of the cutout face form. it's similar to hieroglyphics and can be simple and to the point because facial expressions are universal and some come with their own coli-designated motif.

Anything to make us look like some yellow back, weak ass, sensitive, needy for Liberal White Daddy to fight for us because "all we do is wallow in pity and crave being treated like a collective child" group.

If you're an adult and don't see what's wrong with that picture, or even worse identify with it, go away. You're weak as fukk and a people striving for greater don't need your crutch dependent, self loathing ass holding us back. Doubly so if you're an adult male.

This type of patronizing (and absolutely trivial) bull jive contributes to whatever inferiority complex that may exist among us. Instead of encouraging us to be brave pioneers who are willing to do ANYTHING that any other American has at their disposal because we pay our taxes and contribute to this country like any other group, we're always being gaslight by fear. Fear of oppression, fear of white supremacy, fear of being the minority, fear of not being considered Black enough, fear of academia, fear of branching out from the same downtrodden urban enclaves that a racist government penned us into.

Do those barriers exist? Of course they do. You know how barriers don't get broken through? By keeping this constant boogeyman alive within us that makes us ultra wary to the point of paralysis by analysis.

Enough with the mental plantation. Enough with the boogeymen. Enough with accepting this fear constantly broadcasted to us.

Be brave, Black Man. Life is a battle for everyone and we aren't exempt, unless you choose inferiority. Be a Pioneer. Lead, uplift, and overcome.

It's our ONLY chance.

I’ve realized this a while ago. But it really depends on the person.

100% a real thing. Obviously we have Cacs and agents here on the BLACK forum but as far as gifs and memes go, it’s not as the article describes.

If you use a Kevin hart gif or meme for example cool, but there’s 100% racists that use exclusively reacts of Black people, often not looking their best, in conversations with or revolving around Black people on some Digital One Black Friend sht. Like whatever it is they found is supposed to mean more cuz they found a Black person to puppeteer them telling you to shut up or even agree sometimes.

Sht always been going on. Can’t stand them mfs. Ain’t none of CNN business though. Madda fact, they are a business so rest assured they’re being intentionally sensationalist to bring in traffic. :camby:
