CNN under fire for not promoting black people

I work in media -- and many have created their own. But, publishing works on views and ad dollars -- and sadly it's not happening for most. Our number one focus in Black Media is GOSSIP and Entertainment. Hence, the popularity for the ShadeRoom, etc.

On top of that -- how can one create their own on the level on CNN, Fox without funding. It's not happening. We lack it. Sure, they can get a YouTube channel like Roland but that's it.

The news industry has locked us out -- in addition that has made it extremely hard to create a news channel.

And sadly, Black people will look down on Black owned ish for some reason.

Basically, this is why reparations is needed.

The Black Press, including Black journalists on white platforms who WRITE their own copy, is vital to Black people's survival.Being able to understand, interpret and then act on the issues. When BET Nightly news went off the air, it really left a void that has yet to be filled.

Roland eventually got booted from CNN because the gay cosa nostra went after him. He said/tweeted something that might not have raised an eyebrow 2 years earlier, but at the time he said it, gay people weren't there for any level of disrespect, so they flexed on him .

Whose fault is this? The white media? Or, is it because our community is filled with incurious zombies who lap up gossip and have no interest in a media outlet that broadcasts content which is substantive and meaningful journalism from a black perspective? Doesn't that speak to something about our people? Isn't that a sign that there's a lot of dead weight in the black community that is preventing us from moving forward? Shouldn't we address that first before making a leap to building a serious black media that won't have an audience?

On top of that is White media only wants journalist who tend to be on that "alllivesmatter" and don't want to discuss race and white supremacy -- and this is why they like non-ADOS. They are the first to get hired. They don't hire from HBCU's -- and those on the ground in ADOS communities.

I hate to say it -- but it's true.

I'm saying that there's a reason that the garbage they feed black people - The Shade Room, Love & Hip-Hop, etc. - is as popular as it is. There is a severe lack of intellectual curiosity in the black community. But that's not a discussion a lot of black people want to have, as you've just demonstrated.

I don't doubt it. The Black publishing/media industry is highly non-ADOS -- and they are not fans of ADOS. It's divisive to them -- due to losing spots and not being able to get positions and speak for/write about Black America -- which is rooted in and primary ADOS.

I don't blame them -- but they must be mindful and understanding we need ADOS represented. Especially, when most don't have intimate connection with ADOS other than sharing skintone and discrimination/racism.

Damn -- they going at Roland Martin.

For months, we have been working with NABJ to schedule a meeting because the relationship between CNN and NABJ is very important to us. As we have told them many times, we look forward to a thoughtful discussion about how both of our organizations can continue to work together. Unfortunately, the significant and reckless damage that Roland Martin did to CNN while partnering with us during a 2016 Democratic Town Hall has made any meeting that includes him untenable. Mr. Martin displayed an unprecedented and egregious lack of journalistic ethics and integrity by leaking questions prior to the town hall. As a result, we have told NABJ that CNN will not participate in any meeting that includes him. We have made it abundantly clear that we would be more than happy to sit down with the rest of their leadership team as soon as possible, and that offer still stands.​
