I'm not sure why you're using descriptions like "stupid, costly overreaction, and witchhunts" for US, but then attempt to not apply the same description to other countries doing the same illegal enforcement. That's why I asked you to specify whether you suggested only external border enforcement is done by other countries. You recognize that other countries are doing both external and internal border enforcement

I'm not sure how it does make sense to hire 10,000 ICE agents and build a wall to address the millions of illegals that are in this country OR are trying to get in, who are receiving help from local/foreign governments to undermine the federal government. Having border walls/fences, hiring more personnel, and using technology to combat illegal immigration is not unique to Trump and the US

Again, Illegal immigration is a non-political issue, it's not the white folk's xenophobia. It has become an asset for political parties fit their narratives, gain votes, and increase donations

Other countries are not doing what Trump wants to do, and certainly not on that scale...unless you know of another country that wants to deport millions of people. Gloss over that all you want but it's true. :manny:

And it's certainly a political issue, and xenophobia is a big part of it. Demagoguery (ie. illegals and Muslims are the enemy!) is largely why Trump won in the first place.

It has nothing to do with glossing over anything, it has to do with, as my coworker said, "it's not that I support Trump/Repubs, it's that yall are making me defend common sense"

There are an estimated 11/12 million illegals in this country, with the number rising because no administration took the problem seriously. To kick out "millions" of illegals would still not solve the problem

Every country is applying the appropriate amount of resources to their illegal immigration problem. Had the past administrations done the same as the current administration, then this topic wouldn't be easily used as bait by politicians to manipulate voters

How could something be political when all countries, led by various political ideologies, are doing the same thing? How could he be against Muslims but not ban all Muslim countries? Dems are doing a magnificent job of manipulating folks with emotional narratives to disguise their true agenda

I saw California cac farmers on tv damn near crying talking about losing their best workers

I know a nikka in Houston with a landscaping business who only hires Mexicans(most likely illegals)
He'd close shop before paying more to hire Cacs or negroes
