So whose song is this?

Is this an original song or a whole mixtape of original songs by one artist?

You really have to comprehend the entire sentence... 50 INSPIRED ORIGINAL ARTIST DRIVEN MIXTAPES..... the fact this is DJ Screw and not Artist ABC, already makes it wrong

Your username is beginning to seem more and more unlike you :unimpressed:

Screw put as much work into curating his tapes as 50 cent and g unit. Screw didn't rap all the time; but slowing, chopping, and blending made those songs his own. People bought chopped and screwed versions of albums for a reason. Screw had a crew of nikkas that rapped with him, the S.U.C., same as 50 had yayo and banks. Screw is still the main attraction. People buy screw tapes till this day cause of him above all else. His blends are just as important as the rapping. Listening to a song and then its chopped and screwed version is two different experiences. It's not that hard to understand.

But if your ears can't piece together what makes these songs completely different from each other, it ain't no help for you :yeshrug:

Jesus Christ fam... I'm not shytting on Screw.. I'm reading the statement in the OP.

A DJ having mixtapes has been a thing since the 70s... DJ Screw is not a rapper is he? So how did he influence ORIGINAL ARTIST DRIVEN MIXTAPES when he ain't an artist? So again, the first part of the sentence means you need to be a rapper making mixtapes... The second part states those songs need to be original songs... Then after all that, he says it inspired them, not that he was the first nikka to ever do it in the world.

Y'all see the point and are acting obtuse to make a point that nobody is arguing

Dj screw is the artist. Nikka name is plastered on the cover art.

They're his mixtapes :gucci:

Original mixes and blends mixed with original raps over instrumentals = mixtape full of original music

And key thing, Coach k said artist driven not rapper. Even though screw was a rapper too. If that's not telling you he's the main artist, I dunno what else to tell you :heh:

He also said no one else had made mixtapes with originals songs before 50. Not just that people were inspired. He says verbatim, "No one else was doing that."Which is what we've been in here arguing against but yall keep moving the goalposts :skip:

June 27 is an original song. Pimpin the pen is an original song. Sitting on top of the world is an original song. This is inarguable

people are right but 50 did it as big time promotion

screw tapes was a genre
3sixmafia was different
dblock didnt get credit, like other dude said in here

but it wasnt the same

dj mixtapes arent the same, they are new or unreleased songs or compilations alot of times

50 was rising artist and remixing hits and dropping street shyt in between, just like Wayne... he would enhance your song
dudes like Dblock were doing mixtapes and legends, but not enhancing or building promo with their tapes

Wayne followed 50s exact blueprint as a star ... ive waiting for their mixtapes more than actual releases

50 rapping over Raphael saddiq and D'angelo or Delasoul was different

"Mixtapes, back in the day, was just a mix of people's favorite songs. Like if your uncle or whatever would take his favorite O'Jays songs, his favorite Staples Singers songs, and put them all on one tape, so when they have a party, they could play all of their favorite songs. ... Memphis took it a step further. ...that's what me, DJ Squeeky, and Juicy J would do. We would put our own songs on our mixtapes. That's what people do today, but we were doing that back in '88."

DJ Paul in an interview with journalist Louis Goggans from Memphis Flyer newspaper in 2013.[4]
