Stevens did the most with the least.

ATL came out of nowhere. They aren't going anywhere so let them enjoy this shyt.

Brad Stevens >>>

You had sportswriters who didn't even have the Hawks in the playoffs and Bud led us to a 60 win season. I get it you're a Celtics homer, but Stephens hasn't accomplished anything of substance yet. No banners, no records, no nothing. He's a good coach but there's no way Stephens is a more deserving candidate than Bud

this is stupid. Kerr Coached a team to the #1 offense and #1 defense while winning 67 games. with a team project to be a 4-8 seed in the west.

The Hawks won a conference with only 5 winning teams and the 2 top seeds from last year where a shell of themselves.

This is stupid.

Hawks were projected to be a 6-8 seed, some didn't even have us making the playoffs. Hawks were under .500 last yr and were a 60 win team this yr. Hawks had a greater win differential than GS as well...NOONE saw this coming. It honestly shouldn't have been as close as the votes indicated Bud's coaching performance >>>>>Kerr's

@<<TheStandard>> maybe you did have us doing well, but outside of die hard Hawks fans few national experts even had us a playoff team around preseason.

Golden State’s +10.1 average margin of victory ranks eighth-best in NBA history. They have yet to lose a game by 15 points and could become the second to ever accomplish that feat. They’ve already won more games by double-digits (36) than any team did all last season. They’ve utterly destroyed almost every single opponent all year.

Meanwhile, Atlanta’s +6.1 average margin of victory more closely resembles that of a solidly good team, not a historically great one. The difference between No. 1 Golden State and No. 2 Atlanta in margin of victory is larger than the difference between No. 2 Atlanta and No. 11 Oklahoma City. The Hawks also have three blowout losses of 25-plus points.

The Warriors went from being projected to be mediocre to a historically great team.

The Hawks went from projected to be mediocre to a good team.

You just said the Warriors were projected to be a 4 seed in the West, how is that mediocre?

Hawks were projected to be mediocre and became elite. Developed 4 All Stars, 1st 60 win team in franchise history, 19-0. No coach this season can match those accomplishments and it's Bud who did that (not to mention he was acting GM with Ferry being on indefinite leave). I understand the votes for Kerr in theory but Bud was clearly the better coach this yr

He was not the better coach.

I said The Warriors were projected to be 4-8 in the West. They ended up being far and away the best team in Western conference.

Being the Best team in the East isn't that remarkable especially win the top 2 fro last were going to be out of it headed into the preseason and the Hawks were returning their best player.

I was arguing Bud/Ferry should win GM of the year in that other thread.

Man golden state's bench would probably make the playoffs in the east.

At best it's be a co-COY thing but no way in hell does Kerr deserve it outright over Bud

The return of Al Horford was not expected to make the Hawks anything more than a 6-8 seed. Again the Warriors were a 50 win team last yr the Hawks were under 500. The significance of what Bud did coaching wise (you're talking about the conference not being good which has nothing to do with the COACHING job Bud did) was more significant because he led his team to a greater difference of wins than Kerr, developed this team to produce 4 All Stars and created a culture change with how we play (unselfish, no super star, team first basketball). It was Bud no question

It's so easy to use that logic now :heh: in the beginning of the season it was all about the Bulls and Cavs in the East( crazy how it's still like that). Charlotte was supposed to make noise after signing Lance, Wizards and Toronto were supposed to take the next step, He'll even the Heat were projected to be better than the Hawks. Yea, Hawks fans were trying to tell ya in the beginning of the year that we were an 8th seed w/o Horford but nobody was trying to hear us.

Man, Im 100% behind all ATL efforts.

But, What Golden State this year was extraordinary. You have to reward that on all levels.

What the Hawks did was no less extraordinary. Hawks expectations outside of Atlanta were to be a lower tiered, low 40 win team. It would've been much easier to envision Golden State being a top seed then it would've been to imagine ATL getting to that level and hitting 60 wins
