Cody was never going to get a proper push in the Main Event with his lisp under Vince.

The Stardust gimmick should of been ended at last years Summer slam. But knowing the WWE and its PG rating, the character fits the profile as a kid friendly heel from the other heel characters. And if the gimmick moved merchandise, then you know why they declined Cody's request to end the gimmick.

Where is this story coming from? WWE asked Cody to drop the gimmick. Cody said no, as he felt it was a tribute to Dusty and he owed it to his dad to stick with the character he created. His wife wrote a blog about it, and I think Cody did as well.

The only time WWE pulled the rug out from under him was after Rhodes Family vs Shield, and even that was part of a build up to Stardust, which was Cody's idea completely, and led to WWE finally giving into the Cody vs Goldy match...where they promptly shyt the bed, fukked up the finish, and killed the angle on the spot.

This lionization shyt of dudes who quit or get fired has to stop. Not everyone is misused by WWE. Cody is an average sized guy with a generic pretty boy look, a notable lisp, with a penchant for excelling at cartoony gimmicks, and only hired because of his name. He did well for himself in 9 years in WWE.

Cody was campaigning for a match with his brother way before the Stardust gimmick was even thought of, and actually before they had even teamed together, and the match was supposed to take place at a Wrestlemania. Basically a heel Cody vs face Goldust, not a heel Stardust vs face Goldust at a throwaway PPV (what was it anyway, a Fastlane or something?). You're right about the angle being killed on the spot though, and that match was supposed to be legit built. The match they had featured a predictable throwaway build, to a nothing PPV, and it ended up being nothing. It amounted to Titus O'Neil vs Darren Young.

You're also right about not every one is misused in the WWE, and people shouldn't constantly say that after every release. You just couldn't be any wrong about this particular release.

Made a bunch of money, got himself a wife, & is leaving on his own terms because their doing nothing with him :salute:

Still young enough to leave & go elsewhere to build his stock back up & come back in a better spot later if he wants to. Hope he does what Galloway did & tours the indy scene. Hope he shows up at PWG.

not to change the subject, but how much longer do yall think A.J. gonna last? because you know damn well once they squash him again for the third PPV in a row tomorrow he will likely be pushed to the side as well. wouldn't be surprised to see A.J. competing in pointless tag matches on pre-shows after tomorrow.

He still has Cena, Rollins, Wyatt, Sami, Owens, Del Rio, Orton, Cesaro maybe Lesnar,( which he is a far better underdog than Ambrose) all upper mid card and above matches and then once Nakamura, Joe and Balor come up. He should be fine, if the new era thing is for real.

Then again, Vincent Kennedy McMahon runs the company.

They asked Cody to drop the gimmick right after his dad passed, but he refused it because Dusty loved the gimmick and the upcoming match with Stephen Amell. Cody didn't want to abandon the gimmick and match, so he went on.

WWE then changed that match from Stardust/Arrow to a tag match. After that around the Rumble Cody asked to drop it and come back now that he finished the Amell angle, and they declined.

This has been said before but it seems like people forget why he declined to just drop everything and come back as Cody right after Dusty died.

Barrett, Sandow, Ryback and now Cody.......it seems like the homegrown talent is fed up with getting pushed to the side for the Indy wave. He brought back the OG IC title during a time when the midcard was on life support and could take any gimmick and turn it to gold. Marvel or DC needs to get him on film asap especially since he is a huge comic geek.

Stardust was 100% riding the GOATdust wave. Before that he flopped riding his dad's name. He can work but so can a lot of wrasslers
dudes will act like this is some big loss though
