Money related and/or that rumor that he and the other higherups are at odds about the direction of the company are true. IIRC Cody wanted to focus more on storylines/promo and Khan/other EVPs just wanted more straight wrestling.

It was only a matter of time before a big AEW name jumped ship after the original contracts ran out. I just never thought it would be Cody. He's the main AEW star who uses his promos to bash WWE.

IMO he was the most likely to go back given his extensive time there and familiarity with their style in the ring. Frankly, with the talent they've acquired since the start of AEW, Cody the talent has become expendable; he has a lot of value backstage but he should have a good amount left in the tank. I think the big question for him and Brandi is whether they want to go back to WWE and sign 360 deals that limit their creativity and outside endeavors (wouldn't surprise me if he has a role in Season 2 of Heels since I believe they are currently filming) or continue expanding their own brand where they have the freedom to do what they want and create the time to spend with their infant.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the Cody Rhodes Face Turn among the Stooge World Order

Issa work.

Leading up to the heel turn he should have done ages ago. Dude seems dramatic, and performative af for the littlest angle’s. At this point he’s going to be disappointed when the people treat the turn like they don’t care (because no one actually cares)

If he was going to the E he would have showed up at the Rumble. He’s been no contract for a while now. So they say.

All they trying to do by having TK & the AEW twitter tweet about it is show the people how much they care about storytelling, and how far they would go to convince the fans.

Hopefully he just retires, but if not, I can't wait for nikkas to start acting hype if he shows up in WWE and pretending there wasn't at one point multiple front page threads talking about how much he sucks.

I'm not even mad at Cody for this. He has enough sense to know that you need storylines and character work in this business. He may be annoying at times, but he's the only high level one in the company that understood that.

That straight up indy workrate wrestling gets old real fast If that's all you have to offer That company ain't growing beyond where they are with how they move. Say what you wanna say about the man, but he made himself a star. Might as well get that paper while it's there :yeshrug:
