But let's play with this and it is real, I saw something similar to this coming but in 2024 and with MJF not Cody

Punk is their highest paid in the company at reported 5 mil, WWE just signed Owens for 3. MJF would at least be 2022 Owens level off rip wouldn't he? Then what would stop WWE from blowing up AEW's pay structure and offering MJF over 5 per, which would make MJF AEW's highest paid if he re-signed. There's plenty of incentive to, he's the same age as the NXT stars they're building the future around and if nothing else it fukks over AEW. AEW would have to re-structure a bunch of contracts if they matched WWE's offer I'd have to think.

I thought about all this, never saw Cody being the first to push that button tho lol

This could be a work but I doubt it. The money definitely plays a factor but I think Cody has issues with the direction of the company is going in. I think he’s tired of the nonsensical booking decisions, goofy/terribleness of the indie wrestling style and seeing his popularity dwindle due to newer signings probably got him a little salty too

Cody & Brandy are a brand now….They’re jointed at the hip so if the WWE resign him then I wouldn’t see him going there unless he and Brandie are packaged deal.

But Cody was at his best when he had the Undashing gimmick and at that point I wasn’t watching WWE that much but I really liked this gimmick a lot whenever I tuned in.
