I don't think it's that at all. It's that these guys keep saying they aren't trying to compete with WWE, they're their own thing, etc etc, but all the people doing media can't stop themselves from comparing themselves to WWE or taking shots at WWE and it comes off like the worst aspects of TNA already. It makes them instantly come off as second rate and more importantly, lame.

If these dudes "taking shots" at WWE makes them corny, you won't believe how cheesy you're going to find them when you find out they're being funded by a multibillionaire and will be broadcasting on a top 5 watched national network on TNT.
No shyt their intent is to ultimately compete with the WWE. I assure billions ain't being poured into this out of love & boredom. Like, wtf difference does pot shots at the obvious competitor make? Securing a national network deal and funding from a billionaire was a bigger shot at WWE than a rib that didn't get over, but you have at it, big dog.

It's funny because there are more posts about like "

However the last thing I shyt on was WWE and why it's so unappealing right now (and how to fix it in that thread), I'm not precious about WWE at all, I don't even scam free trials to watch vault footage, I haven't watched the weekly shows in over a decade, I don't even watch the PPVs the day after anymore. Cody and the Bucks (and Jericho and JR) being unable to stop talking about WWE makes them look second rate from the jump, Cody especially comes off like a bitter nerd, and it shows me none of them have learned shyt from the Monday Night Wars or TNA, which is the problem I have. If they're already doing notice me senpai bullshyt and made a big deal out of signing Earl fukking Hebner,

People are completely ignoring the real issue just to shyt on the WWE. I don't think anyone has a problem with the little diss towards Bayley, but how long do you think they can really ride the anti WWE wave? Them not being the WWE is not going to be enough to sustain them long term, and it seems like they've taken more shots this time around because the buzz for AON isn't as big as the last time.

Hunter looked Billy Gunn in his eyes and called AEW a “pissant company.” If you want to take it farther back, Vinny Mac made vignettes making fun of Hogan, Macho Man, and Ted Turner when WCW was just popping off. ECW sent shots to WCW. WCW revealed the results to Raw.
