My coworker has a 20K set up. 8K was for the plumbing. I just realized there are levels to this.
:wow:
When I was in Afghanistan, I got into hand grinding my coffee every morning then using my aeropress. I would drink it black as well.
:russ:
Our beans were old but overall that was my morning routine and I enjoyed the experience.
:ehh:
I’m in Japan now. I need to see about these SEA beans if there are any and review them.

I've heard japan has a coffee culture that's several leagues above what we have here in the states.

Pop's got a coffee farm in Honduras.... high quality shyt.

But persomally

yerba mate >> coffee... :banderas:
I started to source some beans from Belize to flip. I was going to buy the green beans, export them to the states, roast and package them in Denver, then sell it through Amazon and my own store.
:wow:
I wanted to get my Blue Mountain on and call it Mayan Mountain High.
:russ:
I had the package made through Fivver and everything.
I ended up not going through because the money didn’t make sense. 1lb beans would have been over $20 for me to even make $2 a 1lb. I would have had to push crazy volume to make the some money. It wasn’t about the money though. I just wanted to say I had my own coffee brand that was Belizean made. Still, something like that, I would be pushing to sell in NYC, LA and Chicago. I didn’t have the time to run around coffee shops trying to get my brand out.
:francis:
Ended up having my first child later that year so the idea died.
:wow:

That's what's up more Black people need to get in the coffee game.

I know a dude from Altanta that has a coffee farm in Narino in Colombia

It's not in the traditional coffee region of Colombia but Starbucks sources their Colombian coffee there and all of the people are Black

There's a black owned coffee company based out of oakland that's really good. Unfortunately, now matter how I brewed it, it would always give me and my wife a really tweaked out caffeine high. Maybe I'll try them again with my new equipment.

I'm in DC, and you'd THINK the Ethiopians would have this on LOCK.

It's your own damn culture!!!

Funny you mention that. We in the process of trying to figure that out. Got the farm in Honduras, now need to figure out all the things that would go into shipping the coffee to Canada amd branding, etc. Got fam in ATL who got a coffee spot so he would be the US connect. Time will tell what we do...

If I make that call to send you that 100% Puro Hondureño you gonna be in my pocket as my personal Coli Smiley maker on call 24/7...... choose wisely... .

My coffee tastes have changed a lot since this thread.

I only drink Cafe Bustelo if my mom makes it now. Somehow she makes it taste amazing.

But mostly I'm just getting the Members Mark Colombian coffee beans from Sam's Club (I have a burr grinder). It's just good bang for buck.

Sometimes I'll get a bag of whatever they're promoting at one of my local coffee shops tho.

Yeah it’s like they want to keep it to themselves. There’s a whole elaborate Coffee drinking ceremony that they have for important guests.

But they also put butter in their coffee for some reason. They have coffee houses in DC (I’ve been to a few) but they don’t import Beans. If you want perfectly roasted sidamo coffee you gotta to go to one of these hippy non Chain coffee spots.

I’ll order a bag but I don’t have a proper expresso machine. I got to buy a nice one when I get back to Colombia.

Upgraded from my bonavita 1900 + baratza preciso combo to a fellow aiden + fellow ode gen 2 setup. Really happy with my gear now. Ran some cheap ssp mp burrs in the grinder for a couple weeks, but realized that they're really only suited for single origin light roasts which my wife isn't much of a fan of. Put the stock gen 2 ode's back in and calibrated them and am getting cups with a close enough clarity to the ssp's to satisfy my tastes :ehh:

The fellow aiden is an amazing machine. I highly recommend it to anyone that prefers using automatic brewers. It has an app where you can share and download profiles or make your own on the fly. It also not only does batch brews but single cups as well with the switch of a basket which is included. It's about as close to having a pour over automated that you can get. The pulses simulate the agitation that you get from manual pours and make for some really good flavor extraction. As I'm learning my new equipment I'm beginning to pull some extremely sweet and juicy cups from it.

The app had a rocky start but they seemed to have ironed out its wrinkles and its fully functional now.

Also grabbed a cheap autofill valve off amazon for $20 and plumbed my aiden's water reservoir.

Currently brewing counter culture's hologram beans which I find to be a really good value if purchased in 5lb quantities. I split the bag in two and freeze dry half and dump the remaining into a planetary design airtight container. Every week i pre weigh out my daily portions into small airtight jars so that in the morning all I need to do is dump them into the grinder and then from there into the brewer which makes for a really efficient work flow.

@TEH
Damn I wonder if I can get this from Amazon in Colombia. I can grab some single origin straight from a farm in Manizales and roast up.

I think the quality of water might be better than the beans. If you have shyt water. Your gonna have shyt coffee. There's a reason certain areas are popular for coffee and it ain't because it's hip or exotic.

I have shyt water now. So as long as it's the right temp some tasters choice or Maxwell House is fine.
