I have an uncle and a cousin who beat their wives pretty regularly. We see the bruises sometimes but the women never talk about it. They're still married.

Also my grandpa on my mom's side was on some next level shyt, he threatened to cut out my grandma's eyes and came at her with a knife... she was 100% right in leaving him.

A mix of affection, habit and financial advantages they get from being married. My cousin's wife left, once, but ended up coming back because they got history and a kid together... plus he's well-off and she doesn't work. Also I don't think she felt okay with him finding someone else because she used to brag he was crazy about her. My aunt... well, my uncle's also very well-off, he tricks and pays for her shyt and they've been married for 30+ years.

Now my grandma... grandpa not only beat her but threatened her life, all over shyt like his dinner being cold when he got home, and he didn't do shyt to support her or the kids. So she just up and left, even though she had nowhere to go and barely any money to support three kids. She's a really, really brave woman... but I suppose she had no choice but being brave after she left, if she went back he'd hurt her.

we both have bad tempers and our arguments always turned physical. we both were violent towards each other. I tried to stab him once but he wrestled the knife out of my hand.
