This week Russia reactivated a Soviet Era base in the Arctic.

Russia this year reopened the Temp airfield on Kotelny Island north of eastern Siberia, the general announced. There are plans to enlarge the bases in Tiksi, Alykel, Vorkuta and Anadyr. In the future, full-strength divisions and regiments of the Russian Air Force will be deployed in the north.

As expected Neo-Cons on Facebook are shytting bricks between this, and the Russians reopening a base on Cuba.

It's always fun seeing how panicked people get.

The base in Cuba allegedly isn't being reopened.

If Russia wants to reopen a base in the arctic go for it. They're only going to bleed themselves dry like last time.

Let it be noted that they didn't really enter us airspace just the adiz. Us territory is defined as within 12 miles of the boarder. They were no where near that.

Russia claims its fleet chased away US submarine that entered northern boundary waters

Russian navy claims to have driven away what was believed to be a U.S. submarine that entered the country's northern waters.

Russian state news agencies on Saturday cited an unidentified representative of the navy's general staff as saying the incident occurred Thursday in the Barents Sea, which lies off northwest Russia and is home to the navy's Northern Fleet.

The reports said the fleet sent several vessels and an anti-submarine Il-38 aircraft to expel the foreign submarine, presumed to be a U.S. Navy Virginia-class vessel.
