Sid Roams was 2 guys: Joey Chavez and Bravo.

Bravo went on a bit of a soul searching thing and just started traveling the world and taking pictures. This was maybe a little less than 5 years ago. Joey Chavez kept producing and he's still involved in music, but I think as a duo they've been on an indefinite pause for a long time. You can find Bravo on Instagram where he posts a lot of his photgraphy: www.instagram.com/sidroamsbravo

They were really really dope, and I miss their beats a lot. Joey Chavez was still working with Evidence now and then as recently as a few years ago, I believe, and he had a beat on the last Dilated Peoples album.

But Joey Chavez beats without Bravo definitely don't sound like Sid Roams beats. I don't know if that's intentional, or just a side effect. Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect Sid Roams to return anytime soon. Joey and Bravo are friends, but they're also happy doing what they're currently doing.
:mjcry:

Edit: I actually thought of them a couple weeks ago because this beat on Ev's new album (produced by their friend Sebb Bash) reminded me of some old Sid Roams.

yeah i found Bravo's twitter, looks like he stopped being active right after Prodigy died.. he didnt even get to go to the funeral :mjcry:, then he said they had an unreleased EP that was on hold for 10 years because someone was in jail, and was gonna drop it, but i dont think that ever happened.

Damn, that's crazy sad. I knew that Sid Roams and Prodigy were super close. Product of the 80's doesn't get talked about enough. That and HNIC 2 were almost entirely produced by Sid Roams. They worked with P just as much as Alchemist in the final years of P's life. I'm sure that was a very difficult loss.

Also, I know some of the later placements they got with Eminem were older beats that had been made for a long time.

Lmao never knew Sid Roams was a production duo
Yep. And that was exactly what they were aiming for. They wanted people to think Sid Roams was one person and not a duo. They did something unique that I'd never heard of before. They went one step deeper, and they actually created a fictional character, and they gave him a style and a persona, and they tried to make beats from the perspective of the character that they created. I don't remember all the details but to them, Sid Roams was a retired Columbian gangster hiding out in the Caribbean or something like that.

I think they were originally going to call themselves The Controllers, and then they thought it sounded cheesy, and they wanted to do something original and not just be like The Neptunes or The Heatmakerz, etc.

@old boy @riddlerap tagging you guys too.

I didnt know Prodigy rap over this beat. I always thought this beat was made perfect for Mobb Deep to rap over and ill be damn.

First time hearing that beat was over the Halloween beat tape they did.

That's such a dope beat tape. That one and Strictly Nstrumental too.

The production on HNIC 2 and Product of the 80's are seriously some of my favorite produced albums of the late 2000's. Sid Roams handled the bulk of those 2 albums and absolutely killed them.

Product of the 80's is a fantastic album, they did a great job on that one. Alchemist low key might have had the best beat on the album still, but the vibe as whole was theirs.

I need to check out product of the 80s. That zombie musik is just super dope. So I noticed a few of those beats they sold to rappers. I know one of them was used by Eminem and Royce.

Props I never knew this.. Seems like you have alot of knowledge on the production scene in hip hop.

I thought sid roams was one dude.

One of the beats they produced for prodigy ended being the biggest UK anthem of all time for giggs

I'm a big time prodigy Stan but I gotta say Giggs took ownership of this beat.
