I overly think that the high school you went to and where u grew up plays a huge factor in how you think and perceive the world

I’m somewhat biased, I think if you go to larger public schools; you’ll generally have more experience in life

I also think if you get into a “prestigious” HS whether it be application or zoning; it can set you up for life

Do brehs wit kids think I’m jazzing it or this is truly sumn to consider?

I have young kids. Unfortunately almost all of Atlanta schools are shyt. That’s the rich and poor areas.

My five year old started kindergarten this year. She is on the spectrum so the county provides a lot. Luckily her teacher is a 30 vet that is one of the best in the school.

We are currently praying for the best and will supplement their education with tutoring.

We had a planned move to Japan but that won’t happen. We will build a house within five years. The school rating will be a huge deciding factor in the location of our house.

Huge deal, some parents don’t care enough. But, environment is important. Doesn’t even mean you have to come from good environment, but people in their scope need to at least be putting in an effort to have a positive impact imo.

Yes, part of why I’m moving back to NJ which has top ranked public schools and great privates. I also need him to be around majority Black or non white. Not an option for me I ain’t raising no RG3 or “special”/“token” Black young man.

Change the word HS to college and then you might be on to something.
Why? I think you’re underestimating what a concentrated environment for 7 hours a day can do for a young child between 13-17; it’s essential for their development

College is very important too but what you do in HS translates to College, whether it be apps, or just how you handle being a student

I’m aware of them but not really checking as a deciding factor- I’m pretty familiar with the school systems and have a good grasp of what to look for, of course will update as he gets closer to those ages but yeah, also have a large family of educators to keep me up to date on what’s new for the kiddos.

Makes a HUUUGE difference. Saw a couple households where one kid goes to private and the other to public school, the differences were glaring from obvious to even the smallest details. Everything was different. EVERYTHING. From importance of clothes to friends social activities, exposure/access, importance of school/college and preparation, and on and on.

If you don’t mind me asking where did you go to school, and where did you do undergrad at?

Imo I think public school is the best route unless your child has the ability and you have the financials to put them in an elite private HS

There’s a lot of public schools in every county that has great support and schooling

I agree with this also. I seen young brehs bussed out the hood into magnet programs since wayyy back, also offered almost the same opportunities and exposure as private schools. Its a big deal, like you said but parents got to do the leg work and find the loop holes to get ahead fr. Its not a game.
