What’s high though? I’d say 20+ is minimum for the average man. I do the 4 sets of 25 and it took me a month of lifting and doing them consistently to get to that, and even then it hurts everytime when I’m done, it’s not easy. It’ll probably take me years to get to 50+, if ever

Push-ups are a great marker of overall cardiovascular health and strength. 25 for a grown ass man is not a achievement
Everyone is at a different level and the things you achieved are important for you personally, but conservatively speaking I would bet the average man in America cannot do 25 straight pushups.

Not when most of the country is obese, and in poor health overall.

I doubt the average American can run a mile without stopping. I’m not going to believe the average male is doing 25 push-ups.

In my opinion there’s a lot of bullshyt in this thread.

It really is. Especially when you're in the groove as the entire contraction and relaxation phase feel so smooth.

Everyone should have a pull up bar at home, even if you're just hanging out on it now and then because that alone does wonders for releasing the residual shoulder/neck tension that modern life brings. Especially when you consider you can add in gymnast rings and gravity boots as well for a very versatile piece of training equipment:

True, dead hangs do wonders for mid and lower back pain as well. You feel 3 inches taller after 1 min hanging from that (and probably are taller for a little bit).

Breh I’ve never been able to do pull ups in my life…I’m good for about 3
It definitely takes time to build up a good tolerance for :russ:

I doubt I could do 10 in a row rn lol. At my peak, I used to throw in 50 pull ups and 50 dips in every workout. shyt had me cut af. Miss that gym :mjcry:

I agree with all of this.

I SHOULD have said, if you’re getting into fitness, 25 push-ups straight is a quick and achievable goal for the vast majority of males with just effort and consistency. It shouldn’t be seen as something that is out of reach

Pull ups really tell you where you're at in terms of strength and conditioning.

Its also crazy how quick it all slips if you're not constantly getting them in as you can feel the difference at a tendon level.

:salute:for the motivation to get back on it as I've been slacking recently.

Dog I took months off after moving...I did my max and was sore as shyt for like a whole week

I'm getting back to normal though

Tell me about it, I've been so busy with other ish that I kicked the basics to the kerb recently to focus on isometrics. This thread reminded me to get back on it and I can feel the difference as the calisthenics wave builds a power from within, beyond the tendon level, that seems to shrink real quickly when not used on the reg. Much like cardio in that respect due to entropy setting in.

When you're grooving though you can feel the small differences as your whole body movement is just so much more fluid and effortless due to the method of training as opposed to weighted isolation.
