Precisely. I speak to my son is Spanish all the time, it also gives us a closer bond because we can tell secrets and share jokes no one else can understand at times.

With my son being Afro Latino, I like him learning all aspects of both cultures.

Was dating this 1 girl years ago who wanted to learn Igbo so we would learn a word everyday. She couldn't do the accent for shyt but I appreciated that she was down with the culture.

I don't care who I marry, my future kids are going to inherit my culture.

That's really sad about your Mom. Why not try to learn her native tongue, so she has someone to connect and converse with?

She doesn't speak it anymore herself! its not because she's sad or anything, it's because she's too American herself. She moved to Brooklyn when she was 3, if I remember correctly. She just blended in with her American counterparts. Give credit to my dad tho, every Independence Day ( Feb), we celebrate it for a day.

I really really want to take a vacation here. Whats a good tourist spot?

depends on what you want to be honest. If you want the nature vacation, it's going to be in the South, mainly Soufriere, but those are expensive "hideaway" spots and mainly the honeymooners/ rich and famous go there.

The North is where the action is pretty much, but I would stay away from the Sandals style all inclusive hotels. It might be cheaper initially, but I've talked to tourists who complain that they tend to restrict your movements by tailoring what THEY think you'll enjoy during your stay.

Anyway, must do events, Friday Night street jam in the North. Go to the Soufriere Volcano and take a bath in the sulphur springs, any nature trip or climb the pitons(see below) if you're the adventurous type.

Would probably recommend coming during the Jazz Festival, normally around May. Get some fairly high profile acts for small money. Not peak tourist season, so should also get some good hotel/flight rates.

Carnival is July if that's your thing.

Damn no more sending barrels for us.

Don't let that dissuade you from using whatever services send barrels, breh. I've never done it personally and for the few horror stories I've heard they've been 5 times as many people who live by shipping goods up in barrels without incident.

Defiantly find out if they have some sort of remuneration incase your shyt gets damaged or stolen, however. Those more than likely could have been special cases where cheap folk gave members of the crew shyt to smuggle as opposed to paying the regular price for whatever checks and measures the people operating the business would put in place to make sure your barrel reaches with all items intact.
