I always wonder why cuba, DR, PR and one of them other latino countries never associate themselves with the other islands of the carribean. I never see them in the west indian day parades. I guess they don't fukk with nikkas. And is Virgin Islands considered Caribbean ?

It's not about "not fukking with nikkas". They just have a different cultural identity.

I don't care that they are "culturally Caribbean". Guyana is not located in the Caribbean. Its not Caribbean. Many Caribbean people and Guyanese people agree with me on this. Guyana is a South American country, not Caribbean.

:dahell:TF are you on about? Guyana is a Caribbean country. Geographically, they may be on South America, but everything else is West Indian, from the language to the music to the history

Guyana and Belize is part of the Caribbean family. Any coli brehs and brehettes been to Dominica or want to visit?

Beautiful. Lots of greenery. If you're not in Roseau, It can get mad rustic, but in a good way. Not much in the way of a huge nightlife/club scene (unless there's a celebration or carnival or something)

Back when the Panama Canal was being built many West Indians went to work on its construction....

they had kids,,,spent money...built lives and families

many of them stayed on......so there is some west indian cultural influence in Panama as well

Virgin Islands are considered Caribbean. The Spanish islands don't fukk with us and we don't fukk with them.Cuba's cool tho (long history of Caribbean migration to and from Cuba)

I'm not too sure about that. However they are mostly Afrodecendants so it's easier to identify with us (Anglophone) vs the Spanish ones. But their cultures are more similar than given credit for

ou are right about Cuba.

West Indian governments have long spoken up in favor of trade relations with Cuba.......cuban medical professionals are highly regarded and have been sought throughout the caribbean. I believe cuba ma have embassies in many caribbean islands. They have one in Barbados for sure

Heck when I was younger Fidel Castro did an hour long interview with a Barbadian reporter on the state channel.

West Indian people have never turned their back on Cuba

Miami Cubans are different no lie lol

I am actually thinking of going to Cuba to scout some business opportunities.....Black folks need to make the effort to connect with their afrocuban bretheren and make some money with the opening of the cuban market to trade.

Both on the import and export side

Geographically speaking Guyana is not part of the Caribbean, but they are part of CARICOM and share similar island culture so they are generally identified as being Caribbean or part of the "West Indies".

We all know Guyana is on the South American mainland. So what? Who told you the Caribbean is only islands? It's a region that consists of the Caribbean Sea, its islands, and the surrounding coasts.

It's not about which continent the country is on. Geographically speaking, the islands are part of North America. Are you gonna throw them in some made up group with the US and Canada? I don't think so.

Anyway, I'm from Suriname so I know what I'm talking about.

respect

This is a soca song that went on to be a huge hit in the Caribbean performed by Allison Hinds which was spoken in the dialect of a Surinamese tribe

Another example showing that geography does not dictate culture.

Suriname definitely on my list to visit

Furthermore, some of islands are geographically South American....Caribbean is a cultural region
