First of all.. yes.
I was tryna spin it.
Let me offer this: I spent a lifetime trying to believe in the ideal of America. I thought racism was on the serious decline among the masses of white folk.
I was over 40 when I looked the cold orange truth in its dead eyes. Racism is not only thriving.. MOST WHITE PEOPLE ARE STILL RACIST.
Call me naive, but I had been all over and dealt with all kinds of white people. They mostly kept their secret. Until..
Bad Orange Man came down the escalator. I ended up just skipping the little conservative town I was in one day. Just up and flew back home to stay. Cause I realized I was surrounded.
Now I am also a racist. But not out of in born hate. Out of pure self defence. I spent 4 of my decades trying to pretend it was not true. I really tried, but they not about that kumbaya shyt.
Any white person that is being real understands that and they know why we feel the way we do. Being Black is illegal in America. Just going to the store is a potential nightmare waiting to happen.
And to the "good ones" we say welcome.
This is pretty much how I was, except I got the wake-up call around the time of Trayvon and then Mike Brown. Once social media became a big thing, they let those true colors shine. Then when I got mad, it was, “Oh no, not you Creepy. You’re one of the good ones.”
I started letting stuff unleash on Facebook, and sliding into comment sections. They had the audacity to say I was being racist for suggesting we support more black owned businesses. Some bytch said I was encouraging segregation.
