I’ve been suffering with severe migraines since I was 8 and I’m 21 now. I’ve tried any and everything that eastern and western medicines have to offer plus even trying drastic lifestyle changes but my migraines always seem to do their own thing anyway. It’s hereditary so I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll have them for the rest of my life. After years of research, hospital visits, and money being spent, I have found that the things listed below help the best with the actual pain.

Nyquil – I always have a bottle on me. To the average person this may seem ludicrous but as soon as I start to feel a migraine coming on I take a gulp. It numbs my head sometimes to the point where I won’t feel anything. It also helps too if I’m having a migraine so bad that I can only sleep it away, taking the Nyquil will help me doze off quicker. Medical marijuana isn’t a thing where I live so this is the quickest way I can numb the pain.

Excedrin Extra Strength or store brand Excedrin – Taking this medicine is all about timing. If I’ve had a migraine lasting a couple of weeks, I’ll take this as soon as I wake up each day. If I take this when I begin to feel pressure by then it’s already too late.

Ice/IcyHot/Benjay – When you’re having a migraine the nervous system veins in your head are inflamed so using one of those things will actually cause the swelling to go down. Even though these things may sting a little when you apply it to your face or head, it’s nothing compared to a migraine.

Sorry for this being so long but I hope this helps you!

It could be sinuses.

You should definitely see a doctor.

Yup. Once he can rule out other medical problems (and I sure hope that he goes to a damn doctor to get his shyt looked at), I always go to sinuses as the culprit for headaches; especially in cold dry air and in houses with forced air.

This time of the year a lot of people find relief from headaches by using sinus rinses and humidifiers. Some people use neti pots for sinus rinses, but I use this machine and it works out pretty good for me.

I had crazy daily migraines for a month straight last year with this pattern. Couldn't sleep or do anything, one eye watering. Advil, Tylenol, Aleve all completely ineffective. It was tension headaches (i.e. muscular in nature) originating from tight traps and occipitals. Went to a chiro or PT who was certified in Active Release Technique. After 1 10 minute release session, I still haven't had another headache in a year and I try to remember to stretch my neck side to side often as well as occipital stretch holding each stretch for 30 sec.
