Sunny or shade? Trees? Is the ground relatively level? Is the ground rock hard? Where do you live? If you're in the north fall is grass growing season.

Have a tree right in front of my crib. No, back yard ground is not rock hard...it's soft, sometimes mushy...patchy grass. It seems to absorb rain extremely well.

For the summer time, it doesn't seem like an attractive place to have guests on though. I have a nice sized deck though, so we hang out there. But I feel like 2/3rd of my yard is not that unusable for just chilling. I wish it looked more attractive, so to speak.

I say try again with the grass:

- Aerate that shyt (get them gases out the grass)
- Fertilize it
- Beginning of spring, throw down so fescue seeds, water often and :eat:
This...

I would actually do this now depending on how bad the lawn is. You could also scalp it and replant. Topping the seen with peat moss. Come spring the new grass should sprout. .

I can't vouch for the gas in the grass. But most airate to prevent soil compaction. Ether way it's a good thing. Good luck.

why are u doing this?

Honestly, just seeing some of my neighbors yards...looks fly as phuk. I'm not talking some ugly looking paving.

I know that should not be the only guiding factor, but who wouldn't want their shyt to look nice?

I dunno. I like grass. but then again I have a dog, so having the grass is better cuz of that as well. I also have a deck. but I don't have any concrete slab in the back yard. just a small path that leads to the garage.

Don't get me wrong, I like grass too, if I could get it to look like this:

But my shyt looks like this, except mine has much more I guess muddy soil to go along with the patchyness:

That’s nice, just make sure you leave some green area for trees and shrubs. It looks nice and it will help your resale value.

Not my yard..just using it as an example of how some of my neighbors yards be looking. Some actually look better than this example I used.

Yeah, im saying if you go that route make sure you leave some green space like the example. Most people don’t want 100% concrete if you ever want to sell.
