I was given a quaran by my auntie to read. And i want to get into islam properly.
When you pray what words do you recite? Is it a particular verse from the quaran. Is it the same ecery time you pray. Which way does my prayer mat go? Can you chew gum and brush your teeth on ramadan.
You should start Arabic lessons. For now reading the Quran in English along with the Tafsir(an easier to read more traditional like story like breakdown of the english text, its alongside the translated versions of most qurans, otherwise you can find them online. This part is important because The Quran is in Arabic. When translatin anything between languages you lose some of the meaning.) is more than enough.
You recite actual verses from the Quran when you pray, Verse Number 1( Surah fatiha) is compulsory and is indeed recited on every standing of every prayer.
You're prayer mat should always face the Qiblah in the holy City of Makkah( if you're in the UK, thats pointing south East )
you can chew gum and brush your teeth between sundown and sun up, but once the sun is up during you can't chew anything.......you might be able to get away with brushing without toothpaste after sunrise. That sounds fine.....but its best to brush your teeth right before sun up.
Breh. You should just find a local masjid. They'll sort you out proper.
