I think they scrubbed them from the internet, but in his hey day, I remember Kap agreeing to endorse products/appear in ads because the youth of America loved him. Smiling, grinning from ear to ear, non threatening, photogenic athlete.

He was damn near the face of the league for a two year stretch. Youth of all colors rocked with him, including whites. Good clean All American QB, with an edge and team success. Brands embraced him to promote their products.

Wouldn't THAT have been a better example for him to use as a non threatening Black man that was embraced and promoted to white America?

They tried. He couldn't even goto restaurants without white people over doing it and yelling im rich bytch!! And all the other stuff white folks ran to the ground.

If they were to pull the TV ratings and statistics, once Chapelle show came on. We all was locked in, even rushing home to see it with the family.

But like usually, white people ran it to the ground and then there was those who using his platform to hijack it on some mocking shyt. It started subtle then it became straight of mocking to the point, it's like okay.. Whats really going on here.

I agree with the concept and the message, but not the examples. I don't know how much he thought about the nuances behind using these characters.

You could argue this with Carlton, you could. But only on a surface level. One of the most important parts of Fresh Prince is Carlton representing blackness in his own way while learning from Will about his representation of blackness. There are episodes that dealt with this problem directly.

Urkel? White people loved him, but how did he assimilate? He was a popular character on a TV show millions of people watched every week. That's it. The Cosby Show was the biggest show in the country when it was out. Are the Huxtables acceptable Negros, too?

And the other examples he used........I notice all of them are black characters in shows with predominantly white casts. Is it Gary Coleman's fault for being so talented, he had America by the balls back in the day? Kim Fields was Tootie, but she was also Regine. Is she no longer an acceptable Negro because she's surrounded by other black characters? No, because Carlton was surrounded by other black characters and he's an AN, so.............how much did Kaep think about all this?

Did he use more recent characters in his explanation? I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t for fear of being “dragged” by Twitter.
