There's no way it will happen. conferences already compete amongst themselves. The problem is, when reports pull the amount of money all the combined schools make in the NCAA and then put out some astronomical number, it doesn't take into account how many of these schools are reporting loses in their athletics budgets. There are a ton of issues looming with with this.

Whether its a major football program, or basketball. They both carry the funding for the rest of the sports at a school. Every other sport is a money pit, that usually get's subsidized by football. That's one issue.

If this only applies for male sports, you better believe the next Skylar Diggins or Gomez sisters are going to waive Title IX to get a piece of the pie. There's no way, imo, women will not be asking for the same thing. It could lead to gender discriminatory suits.

On paper, it's great if players get paid, but it will open up a ton of other issues. They can;t only focus on football and basketball, while disregarding everyone else. Ive always though they should get something extra than just scholarships, but being a paid athlete opens up the door for so many more possible issues.

yep. you hit the nail on the head couldn't say it any better myself. people never see all of that when it comes to paying players they just see Johnny Manziel and Jabari Parker not getting paid not the other hundreds of other athletes who will have to get paid.
if they are able to unionize then i can see a lot of schools cutting their other programs besides their money makers

Frankly, the market for women's sport being near non-existent when compared to men's is undeniable enough for no ethical issues to arise there. Title IX pertains to equality which isn't quite the same thing as fairness.

The NCAA has had no problem in the past finding loopholes and ways around such provisions to meet its own ends over the years. The NCAA has spent billions on lobbying just over the past decade and the political power they wield is unholy. If they deemed that things should change, they would.

its a federal mandate not a ncaa thing. they can't get around it. schools have to have equal numbers of sports for men and women. women are going to have to get paid equally.
