I wouldn't be surprised if this is why. Men Back then looked a lot older and more "mature". Whether it's because styling, lifestyle, testosterone, or steroids, etc.

A lot of it is fashion choices, but there's also lifestyle. It has become more common for men especially to put on lotion, drink water, not smoke, not consume food made with a lot of salt, and eat vegetables at least 2x a day.

Every time I go through my old vinyl records I’m shocked at how old them 70’s and 80’s funk and r&b singers looked for their age.
