Mountain lions usually avoid close contact with adult humans..I've encountered three, two ran away and one was curious enough to follow me for about 100 meters before it got bored and went off about it's business.

Even if they were hungry, I would've noticed and taken appropriate action..they train you on the behavior of certain animals that you can encounter in the woods going through the Q course. Typically cougars don't attack humans.
