Colts LB Edwin Jackson killed by drunk driver

Wow this story is more horrific than I thought

Jackson and another person, Jeffery Monroe of Avon, were stopped along the side of I-70 when Monroe, who was believed to be a ride-sharing operator driving Jackson, got out of the car to help Jackson, who was sick. The driver of a Ford F-150 drove onto the emergency shoulder and hit the rear of the car, striking both Jackson and Monroe, with one of the bodies landing in the center lane of I-70, according to a release from the Indiana State Police.

State trooper Ty Mays, who was in the area, reported to the scene after seeing the accident on the side of the road. In the process of slowing down, he hit the body of the victim that was in the center lane.

Drunk driver hit Jackson and the Uber/Lyft driver, then the state trooper arriving on the scene ran one of them over while arriving. RIP to both victims.

I don't think anything is going to curb drunk driving except a change in technology (self-driving cars). I'd assume most drunk-drivers are either alcoholics or people who go out and don't think they're going to drink and then end up drinking way too much. The problem is when they get drunk they lose all sense of rational thinking.

Right now you can drive drunk, spend 10k on a good attorney and not only do you do no jail time, it doesn't even show up on your record

Smh yea there's no excuse for driving drunk with uber and lyft. They need to increase the penalty on those that do so. Too many innocent people being killed

Start giving out minimum of a few years in jail for dwi and watch how quick this changes

Government wants their beer tax. Government won't completely eliminate drunk driving. They put in laws to act like they are doing something but they'll never put a no tolerance.
